The Stories
Constable Marc J.D. Bourdages was born and raised in Deux-Montagnes, Quebec, with his loving family, Jacques and Yolande Bourdages and older brothers, David and Hugo.
Marc was an active young man with a love of motorcycles, the Habs and ambitions of joining the RCMP. Marc graduated Depot in December 2000 in Troop 13 and was posted to Lac La Biche, AB.
Later he was posted to Pelican Narrows, SK and then Spiritwood, SK with his wife Constable Natasha Szpakowski; where in 2005 they welcomed their baby boy Luca Bourdages. In July 2006, Marc and his partner responded to a domestic violence call, which later resulted in Marc being shot in the line of duty on July 7, and later succumbing to his injuries in hospital on July 16 at the age of 26, leaving behind his loving wife, 9 month old son and extended family.
Marc will always be remembered for his love of family, the outdoors, and being a Mountie.
Le gendarme Marc J.D. Bourdages est né et a grandi à Deux-Montagnes, au Québec, auprès de sa famille aimante : ses parents Jacques et Yolande Bourdages ainsi que ses frères aînés, David et Hugo.
Marc était un jeune homme actif, amoureux de la moto et des Canadiens de Montréal. Il avait l'ambition de se joindre à la GRC et a gradué de Dépôt en décembre 2000 dans la Troupe 13. D’abord affecté à Lac La Biche, en Alberta, Marc a par la suite été transféré à Pelican Narrows, puis à Spiritwood, en Saskatchewan, avec son épouse, la gendarme Natasha Szpakowski. En 2005, ils ont célébré ensemble la naissance de leur fils Luca Bourdages. Le 7 juillet 2006, Marc et sa partenaire ont répondu à un appel pour violence domestique au cours duquel Marc a été abattu dans l'exercice de ses fonctions. Il a succombé à ses blessures à l'hôpital le 16 juillet à l'âge de 26 ans, laissant derrière lui son épouse bien-aimée, son fils de 9 mois et sa famille élargie.
On se souviendra toujours de Marc pour son amour de la famille, du plein air et de son métier de policier au sein de la GRC.
