Story:
On August 4, 1970, Dennis became a member of the RCMP. He obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Alberta and was hired as a first class constable.
On February 16, 1971, he graduated from Troop #9 with Regimental Number 28222 and started his career with a posting in Nanaimo B.C. Shortly after, he worked in the Vancouver Town Station, in the courthouse and the Vancouver International Airport.
In January of 1973, Dennis was posted to Chetwynd B.C, and while there, he married his wife of 43 years Elizabeth.
In June of 1974, Dennis was transferred to the RCMP Forensic Lab in Ottawa where he completed his training as a Hair and Fibre Specialist. He then had the opportunity to work in this capacity in Sackville New Brunswick, and Winnipeg Manitoba. While in Winnipeg, Dennis was proudly promoted to Sergeant. With an unfortunate change in events, the laboratory turned their positions from ranking members to civilians and in order to keep his position as a ranking member, Dennis had to leave the lab.
In August of 1986, Dennis was transferred to Ottawa where he was involved in the Training and Development Branch, in the Research Unit, developing course training, standards and manuals.
In 1989, Dennis and family were transferred to Edmonton, Alberta. He was the Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO) in charge of Police Motor Vehicle Accidents, Civil Litigation and Grievances. For the first 6 ½ years he managed the employees responsible for handling the lawsuits against the Force in Alberta and all the car accidents involving police cars (approx. 300/year). Dennis was personally responsible for processing all internal grievances as well as dealing with unsatisfactory performances.
In 1997, Dennis took a lead role in the development of and Alternate Dispute Resolution Program for Alberta. Dennis maintained that role until February 2000 when he also became the Acting Admin Manager for the Province of Alberta.
Dennis proudly accepted the Long Service Medal and the 125th Anniversary Confederation of Canada Medal during his years with the RCMP.
After 30 years of dedicated service, Dennis retired from the RCMP in February 2001 and spent his time with his family and enjoying many hobbies. He sadly passed away on January 2nd, 2016.
