Corporal Donald Southern was born in Lachine, Quebec on June 23, 1954 to parents James Southern and Cynthia Florence Bailey. Don grew up in Lachine with his beloved sister Linda (Kim Lackey) and brother Steve (Debbie Frail).
Don graduated from Concordia University with a Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in Recreation and Leisure Studies in 1977.
Don joined the RCMP on April 7, 1981 and completed his training as part of Troop 1, 1981. Upon graduation from Regina, Don was transferred to “E” Division where he served until his retirement in 2012.
