Story:

In 1960, at the age of 18, I was studying Communications Engineering at the Radio College of Canada. In the same class were four RCMP members, in particular Roy Huff. As the result of talking with Roy, and the others, I applied for and was accepted for regular member engagement. Seven days after my 19th birthday I was sworn-in and on a train for Regina, where I became a member of “D” (for Dirty Dog) Troop.
Just before graduation I was asked where I would like to be posted and I said “K”, “E” or “B” Divisions; so I was posted, most fortunately, to “H” Division, for all but 3 ½ years of service. I served on general detachment, G.I.S., and Division Admin. In Ottawa I served in Compensation Branch and learned a lot about compensation, benefits and payroll systems and had the opportunity to cross the country on various compensation related projects. I returned to “H” Division Administration and retired in 1989.
Three members who I had the privilege of serving with were D.J. Wright, C.J. Reid and D. S. Webster. While I had many excellent work partners, these three men gave me reason to enjoy my work and to look forward to every day in their service.
Being a member of “H” Division Veterans’ Association helps keep my service memories alive and the good work of this group for the “Tabs for Wheelchairs” is great.
