Regina Ladies Auxiliary to the RCMP
Brick Location: This brick has not yet been mounted onto the Pillars, but is on display in the Centre in the interim.
Story:
The Regina Ladies Auxiliary to the RCMP first met on February 15, 1955 at a private residence. There were 19 paid members.
Some of the fundraising and events over the years included a summer camp for diabetic children, Christian Cheer Fund, Care of Canada, Senior Citizen day care, amongst others. Funds were raised by having garage sales and bake sales. Many of the members will remember those with fondness and I’m sure a few laughs while working together.
Quilts were made by the ladies and donated to the Red Cross. Coffee spoons were given to those members leaving Regina.
Let’s fast forward approx. 60 years. During that time, we have given donations to the Christmas Cheer Fund, Heritage Centre, and individuals in need.
We continue to have a Special Needs Committee who cater to funeral lunches for those from the Ladies Auxiliary or RCMP Veterans. Those sick and shut in are visited and often provided with comforts. This has often taken place along with the RCMP Veterans. This is a very special part of what we do to be a part of camaraderie and as our membership ages, there is more need in this regard.
As of October 2020, we have 40 paid members in our Auxiliary. We welcome anyone who is interested in joining our Auxiliary.
