Story:
I was enlisted on Sept 22, 1969 at Edmonton AB and drove to Regina Depot Div. I was assigned to Troop 9 – 69/70 with 31 other troop mates. I turned 21 years of age during training, and was the third oldest in the troop. This is quite a difference in ages versus current recruits. Training was very challenging and physically demanding, however, I have many fond memories. In April 20, 1970, my first post was Burnaby Detachment, E Div. At that time Burnaby Det. was the largest autonomous detachment in Canada with 210 members. Tour of duties were Gen Duties, Court Detail and Crime Prevention Unit. In July 1977 I was transferred to Prince George Det. and remained there until 1986. Tour of duties were Gen. Duties and General Investigations Section (GIS). In January 1986 transferred to Terrace Detachment in charge of GIS. In January 1989 transferred to Vancouver Island with Victoria Joint Forces Operations. In 1995 transferred briefly to General Duties and then to Vancouver Island Criminal Intelligence Section. In May 2000 I retired after 30 wonderful years of service. I am very proud of my service and all members of the RCMP.
