Jun 1993: Promoted to Sgt., Edmonton Commercial Crime Section. Worked on Federal enforcement frauds such as Employment Insurance and Income Tax
Oct 94 – Oct 95: Transferred to “K” Division Complaints and Internal Investigations
Oct 95: – Retired from the Force with 22 years and 2 days service
Oct 95 – Jan 2003: Coopers & Lybrand Chartered Accountants, which eventually became PricewaterhouseCoopers. Worked across Canada, in the US and the Caribbean as a Commercial Bankruptcy Manager, Forensic Accountant and Fraud Investigator. Spent considerable time in the Caribbean assisting the Government of Grenada to liquidate private off-shore banks held by international criminals.
Jan 2003 – Aug 2013: Office of the Auditor General of Alberta – Assistant Auditor General. As a member of the executive management team, I led value-for-money audits and fraud investigations. Conducted international audit work and training in Mexico, Bhutan and Vietnam.
Jun 2003: Completed a Diploma in Investigative and Forensic Accounting from the University of Toronto
Jun 2009: Awarded the Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation
Aug 2013 – Feb 2016: Appointed Assistant Deputy Minister, Government of Alberta, Service Alberta. Led 350 staff in the Motor Vehicle Branch, Vital Statistics and Land Titles administrations
Jul 2015: Awarded the Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation.
Feb 2016: Feb 2017 – Appointed Senior Advisor – Alberta Corporate Internal Audit Services after downsizing and reorganization at Service Alberta due to budget cuts
Feb 2017: Retired from the Alberta Public Service
Feb 2017 – Aug 2019: Executive Director, Auditor General of British Columbia, Victoria. Went back to the basics of fraud investigation and value-for-money audits on beautiful Vancouver Island.
Jun 2017: Son Craig graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Alberta
Aug 2018: I graduated with a Master of Forensic Accounting degree from the University of Toronto. Proud to be a life-long learner and the oldest student in the class!
Sep 2019 – Retired from BC Public Service, now semi-retired doing forensic accounting contract work. Living part time in Victoria and part time in Edmonton.
